Boeckeler Instruments, Inc., recently introduced its VideoChalk line of presentation markers designed specifically for educators so that they can mark in bright color on video images displayed in the classroom. When using VideoChalk, teachers can quickly focus student attention to key points being presented. In addition, teachers can switch from drawing on video images to writing on a white or black video chalkboard. Boeckeler launched the VideoChalk CK-5 classroom presentation marker in October as the line's first model. This model allows use with composite or S-Video images generated from such devices as a VCR, video camera, or document imager. To draw on a video image, teachers press a stylus across the surface of a small tablet. By clicking the stylus on various tablet icons, teachers can change to one of seven marker colors in one of three line widths. They can also mark the image with colorful arrows, bullets, checkmarks, boxes, or circles, to help emphasize a point or focus attention. If two sources are plugged into the CK-5, such as an S-Video VCR and a composite video microscope camera, teachers can use the tablet icons to switch between viewing either image. For math classes, this model also offers Cartesian coordinates templates for two and three axes.

The CK-5 also doubles in use for coaches in the video room. Coaches can mark video reviews of plays, then switch to arranging "X" and "O" markers on field grids pre-designed for football, soccer, or basketball.
